Uh-oh, birds have left their mark on your shiny car! Don’t worry, here is everything you need to get you car sparkling again.
Here’s how to handle it:
Step 1: Clean the Droppings
If your car is warm, park it in the shade to cool down first. Using a microfibre wash mitt, a two-bucket method (one for rinsing, one for soapy water), and a good car shampoo, gently wash the affected area.
Soften the bird droppings by spraying a bug remover or all-purpose cleaner, letting it sit for 30 seconds, and then rinse thoroughly. If stubborn, use a damp cloth to carefully remove the residue.
Step 2: Dry and Inspect
Dry the cleaned area with a soft cloth. If no etching is visible, you’re good to go. If there are marks, move on to the next step.
Step 3: Addressing Etching
If you spot etching, pour hot water over the area to help the paint re-flow. Bird droppings can cause uneven paint expansion due to heat cycles, and the hot water helps the paint level out again. Repeat as needed until the marks disappear.
