1.4MM - MTM Hydro Foam Cannon Orifice
MTM Hydro foam cannon orifices are designed to optimize performance across various pressure washers with different PSI and GPM ratings. These orifices (also called nozzles) help match the proper orifice size to machines that operate above 4 GPM or below 2 GPM. While they do not increase or decrease pressure, they ensure optimal foam generation by aligning with your machine's specifications. All MTM Hydro foam cannons come standard with a 1.25mm (3.5 orifice) pre-installed.
If your pressure washer requires a slightly larger orifice for optimal performance, a 1.4mm orifice may be the ideal upgrade. This can help fine-tune foam output and prevent back-pressure issues.
Choosing the Correct Orifice Size
To determine the best orifice size, consult a nozzle selection chart using your pressure washer’s GPM and PSI specifications. You can also check the side of the nozzles included with your pressure washer—on MTM QC nozzles, for example, a marking like "25030" means a 25° spray pattern with a 3.0 orifice.
Troubleshooting Your Foam Cannon Orifice

Pulsation or Machine Cutting Out – If your machine shuts off intermittently, the orifice is too small, creating excessive back-pressure. This can damage your pump. Consider using a larger orifice, like this 1.4mm option.

Watery Foam – If your foam is too thin, a smaller orifice or adjusting the chemical ratio may improve performance.

No Foam Production – If no foam is coming out when you pull the trigger, inspect the orifice opening for debris or clogs.

Cleaning and Maintenance – To remove the orifice, use a flat-head screwdriver to unscrew it. Clean out any debris and save it in case you need to switch back for another pressure washer setup.
Upgrading to a 1.4mm orifice can enhance foam cannon performance for machines that require a slightly larger nozzle size.
